COMPACT SIZE:
Half the size of many conventional gearboxes, planetary units fit where others will not, which translates into easier installation and neater design solutions; it is also a bonus when fitting replacement units into restricted spaces.

LOW WEIGHT:

Weight savings can be as much as 60%, which means lighter and smaller support structures or even direct mounting onto the drive shaft, plus less mechanical stress and lower shipping costs.

SUPERIOR EFFICIENCY:

While alternative transmissions can be less than 50% efficient, planetary units are 90% plus, even at fractional rpm with ratios over 2000:1, which enables a smaller motor/gearbox combination and lower running costs.

LOW MAINTENANCE:

Other than routine oil changes, no maintenance is required throughout the design life of the gearbox, not even replacement bearings, which means there is no need to hold costly stocks of spares.

EXTENDED LIFE:

Planetary gear units can be specified to last the machine’s total design life, which ensures true fit-and-forget performance.

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY:
The modular construction allows standard modules to be combined for non-standard applications; with only a small number of specialized components to customise the gear train.

COST EFFECTIVE:
Volume production of modular planetary components enable significant economies of scale and highly competitive pricing, especially as required torque increases and speed decreases.

FULLY REVERSIBLE:
Whereas a worm box is much less efficient and can even lock if run in reverse, a planetary unit is equally efficient in either direction; this is a bonus if the machinery regularly runs in clockwise and anti-clockwise cycles.

COAXIAL ARRANGEMENT:
The coaxial configuration of input and output shafts allow planetary gearboxes to be installed in line with the motor and machine.
